City fees and taxes.

Plain answers on what you are being charged, why, and the relief programs you may qualify for.

Property tax

Hamilton’s tax increases were above inflation every year from 2023 to 2026. Jonathan’s position: find the waste before City Hall asks for more. Lower tax increases start with smarter spending, not fewer services.

Placeholder Add 2027 budget timeline and how residents can take part.

Vacant unit tax

Hamilton charges a tax on residential units left vacant. Most homeowners only need to file a short declaration each year.

Placeholder Add the declaration deadline, exemptions and the City link.

Stormwater fee

The City is moving stormwater costs from the tax bill to a separate fee on water bills.

Placeholder Add start date, how the fee is calculated and credit programs.

Tax relief for seniors

Deferral and relief programs exist for seniors and people with disabilities. Jonathan’s position: City Hall should do the outreach, not bury the programs in paperwork.

Placeholder Add program names, eligibility and links.

Pay or dispute a bill

Placeholder Links for tax bills, water bills and assessment appeals (MPAC).
